809 - Movies of 2016

I didn't really have a set date when to put this one up. Yet after spending a day of seeing every drooling simp on Youtube making Top 10 ______ of 2016 lists, I decided to throw my hat into this pointless ring. I am fully away Zootopia is not on here and Rogue One is placed at the bottom.

Because fuck Disney, that's why!

For once I actually have 10 movies to make a shitty Top 10 Movies of...

John Olver: CURRENT YEAR!!!

..... List so let's roll with this. As a reminder here is the criteria for the movies on this list.

1 - How many times I've viewed the movie both cinema and DVD.

2 - How memorable they were in the long run. Basically, which sticks out in my mind the most.

3 - The level of enjoyment I had overall when taking the first two into consideration.

4 - Anything that happened to change my mind after reviewing (or in a few of these entries cases, the reviews you'll see next year) them earlier this year.


The criteria for this list will NOT be based on the following.

1: How much money it made at the box office.

2: What their score is on IMDB/Rotten Tomatoes etc.

3: What Honest Trailers had to say.

4: What you think.

Some of these movies don't have reviews from yours truly yet. They're coming next year so stay tuned.


#10 - Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

#09 - Star Trek Beyond.
I'm gonna spoil the eventual review rotten here. Take everything I'll say about Rogue One, swap out Wars for Trek and it'll be the same review.


#08 - The Angry Birds Movie.

Out of the 3 video game movies this year, this one wasn't so bad but the jokes did ware thin after awhile.


#07 - Warcraft: The Begining.

#06 - Suicide Squad.
I did place this at #4, but some issues pushed it down a bit. I don't think it deserves all the hate it got but, ya know. Stay tuned.

Not the worst Turtles Movie ever made. Because nothing will ever top TMNT 3.


#04 - Captain America: Civil War.

Well, I originally placed Civil War and Dawn of Justice at the same spot at joint 3rd. I said "there, you can sit together. Nobody is higher or lower so everyone is happy!" because I couldn't seperate the two for they're pretty much the same movie.

Then this happened.

As I said before, I'm perfectly okay with people being encouraged to vote. Yet this was about as biased and one sided as the reviews for Civil War. You don't tell people what to do in this patronising manner. Oh thanks celebrities, I never realized voting was so important and thank you ever so much for spelling exactly WHO they should vote for.

Funny how it's mainly the pro registration Avengers in this video. Guess Cap was right all along.


#03 - Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice.

What a shame Batman and Superman's actors didn't endorse Hillary. I'd of put them at #7! Now, to explain why it made it this high on my list. Out of all the movies on this list next to Deadpool, I could remember everything about it. Civil War is just that airport scene and Spider-Man. I literally didn't care about anything else besides that one scene and Spidey's debut.

Dawn of Justice is the infearior movie, I will agree on that, but it jumped into "so bad it's good" territory that I can see myself coming back to this for joke matieral. To further cement this. The "Tell me, do you bleed?" line has become a running joke of mine that we've turned it into a sexual inuendo. Civil War hasn't got anything like that. Synder is a bad director and this is a deeply flawed production..... But by god is this an entertaining car crash to watch!

#02 - X-Men Apocalypse.

I think Fox are doing just fine on their own. While Marvel continue to rinse and repeat, I plan on paying to Fox's roller coaster of curve balls. Sure it's melodramatic and off it's tits, but at least the cast isn't quipping douchebags.

In an age where Super Hero Movies are trying so hard to be as pretencious as the Nolan Batman trilogy or as forgettable as Guardians of the Galaxy. At least somebody remembered what fun is. The Merc with the Mouth stole the show in February that I said to myself "NOTHING is going to top this!" and looking back at 2016.

Nothing did. Not even Civil War.
