I no longer agree with this review. Dawn of Justice is the superior Movie.

Also thanks to :iconkariookami: for the winter background.

Part 3 - Dawn of Justice Vs Civil War.

Before we begin, I'd like to address the supposed "conspiracy" behind Batman V Superman's incredibly poor performance, and critics calling it out on the confusing pile of Zack Snyder shit that it is. A conspiracy that was instigated by a small gaggle of lunatics.... Not to name names but it does rhyme with "Mace Gandolf!"

I'm telling you this with all the kindness in the world and because I care.

But it needs to be said.

You people are fucking crazy!

Did we watch the same movie? Dawn of Justice was panned NOT because The Mouse bribed everyone in hollywood to talk shit about it. It was panned because it's an objectively bad movie. Too many subplots. Too many characters and is a complete mess. Because the director was far more interested in "the shot" than "the plot" So now that Civil War is here, there is enough salt pouring off these tin foil hat wacko-loons, that I'm waiting for the Vinegar to join it on my chips.

I'M ENGLISH LOL.

Yet to the supremely smug 20 somethings who jerk off to the MCU, please keep in mind I don't enjoy giving DC Comics the verbal thrashing in this manner. You should want them to succeed because without direct competition, the MCU is going to get stale and eventually run out of steam very quickly.

Don't believe me? Just ask how profitable and watchable modern WWE is?

But let's put this to bed once and for all shall we?

In this comparison. I will compare similar elements between Civil War and Dawn of Justice. Then explain which film handled them better.

Captain America Vs Iron Man - Batman Vs Superman.
The Avengers and Superman both represent what the public perceive as "a threat to the planet" so Iron Man and Batman have taken it upon themselves to stop them. The clashing of ideals is the key factor in these showdowns. The main difference however is that with Civil War, you feel like we have been building up to this fight since the first Avengers movie back in 2012. The constant bickering, the sarcasm and teases of a fight has made this explosion all the more compelling. You knew Steve and Tony would come to blows that even if they didn't pass The Sokovia Accords they'd of had it out anyway.

With Batman and Superman however, there is NO reason for these two to fight each other. We've had no motivation or justification for Superman to hate Batman. Sure, Batman has his reasons for stopping Superman because of what happened in Metropolis. Superman has what? He doesn't like him because he's a vigilante? Ummm, pot calling the kettle black? The fight between them wasn't a clashing of ideals or two people refusing to back down from there beliefs. It was a very short fight because an artsy film director who had no clue what he was doing wanted to see two heroes fight. Even my dad, who has no interest in comic books said "having two superheroes fight each other makes no sense!" and even I couldn't explain to him why they were fighting!

My advice to Zack Snyder, if he really wants to see Batman fight Superman with zero motivation? Go play Injustice: Gods Among Us on multiplayer.

Civil War showcased the emotional breakdown of everything we've seen over the last 8 years, be torn apart because Cap refused to move on the issue of freedom. Dare I bring up the infamous "Martha" revelation? What's funny is that Civil War has a similar concept. While Batman's mother was what ended their fight, Iron Man's mother is what kicked off the final bout with Cap.

Civil War tugged at my heart strings, while Dawn of Justice tugged at my shirt sleeve to check my watch.

Zemo - Lex Luthor.
The heroes always need a villain to trigger the domino effect. And with these two, I'm not sure which is worse. While I consider Jessie Eisenberg's Lex Luthor a fucking embarrassment, he at least had an impact on the movies overall conflict. I question the need to have a 1940's version of Lex in a movie that has a New 52 Superman and a middle aged Batman "inspired" by The Dark Knight Returns (CONSISTENCY) but at least they pulled inspiration from the comics in regards to Luthor.

Zemo is in name only. Mind you, seeing him in his pink fluffy costume in live action would look ridiculous, that doesn't excuse the fact they ignored the rest of his character traits from the comics. The MCU's biggest weakness is not being able to properly translate villains from the comics except Loki and to some extent Thanos.

Zemo's scenes felt like they belonged in another movie, and he really didn't do anything. As I mentioned in the previous comparison, Cap and Tony would have come to blows without Zemo twisting facts in the background. But then again, Zemo had the better performance due to the face Daniel Brühl is a much better actor than Jessie Eisenberg. Yet, Zemo is only relevant to the plot in two scenes and I think Spider-Man had more screen time than he did.

In short. Both performances had something the other lacked, yet in the end Luthor actually had more to contribute.

Spider-Man - Wonder Woman.
"A character that was shoehorned into the movie who ends up stealing the show in their limited screen time, while doing something badass with a shield in the movies trailer."

Now if you're not sure if I'm referring to either Spidey or Diana, then that's why these two are being compared. While Wonder Woman loosely ties into the events of Dawn of Justice, you could actually remove Spider-Man's contribution and it really wouldn't impact the movie all that much. Yet the difference for me at least is what they do with their limited screen time.

When Diana first appears, you want to see her do something cool. Then she disappears for awhile. Then she appears again, and she still isn't doing anything of interest before disappearing again. Then she appears again and I think by that point I was saying "Will you just put your costume on and do something please?"

Spider-Man on the other hand was a bit more straight forward. He has a pretty amusing scene with Tony Stark, which helped introduce us to the MCU incarnation of Peter Parker. We meet his Aunt May and gain a slight bit of backstory, which will hopefully eliminate any chance of telling his origin story for the third time. Yet when he reappears, he's in costume and gets down to action. Not showing up and leaving, but getting involved in the movies general conflict.

That is the main thing separating the two characters. One had too much build up and speculation, while the other had the right amount. I understand that backstage politics kept Spider-Man out of most of the trailers, TV spots, posters and promotional material for Civil War. Yet looking at it now that the films are out. It was actually a brilliant idea. Movie trailers tend to show you 99.9% of the movie now which ultimately ruins the experience. Yet leaving Spidey out of the promotion meant all of his best bits were a surprise. The "Hey Everyone" and "Metal Arm" jokes were the tip of the ice berg.

You basically saw all of Wonder Woman's best moments in the trailers. While she did have a kick ass fight with Doomsday, it was ultimately spoiled for me because of trailers.

So winner here is Spider-Man. Because sometimes what you don't see is always better than what you see in trailers.

Crossbones - Doomsday.
They say the maximum amount of villains you can have in a Super Hero Movie is two.... But I dare you to give a shit about these two disappointments.

So Crossbones is the continuation of the character introduced in Winter Soldier, while Doomsday was badly introduced in Dawn of Justice. Both having no real reason to be there and ultimately should not have been featured in the trailers. Yet the main thing separating them is the fact we were already introduced to Crossbones in a previous movie. That tends to be main advantage the MCU has over the newly formed/rushed DCCU. 8 years worth of continuity and establishing characters in previous films (more on that in the next comparison) while DC is cramming everything into a single movie.

I'm not the biggest DC Comics fan, but even I know you cannot have Doomsday's origin and arc in the same movie setting up BOTH The Justice League and a fight between Batman and Superman. That would be like setting up Ultron in the same movie as a Civil War adaptation alongside the Night Gwen Stacy died.

Doomsday is NOT the result of Luthor making an mutant spunk baby with Zod's DNA. Crossbones however resembles his comic book counterpart. You basically knew these are two characters who would just be killed at the end. I would have been more annoyed by Crossbones demise, if he didn't already have his set up in the previous Captain America movie.

I look at it like this. To compare them to other movie characters. Crossbones is Count Dooko from Star Wars. He had an introduction and badass fights in movie 2, yet had one last fight in him and a death scene in movie 3. While Doomsday is Venom from Spider-Man 3. Really didn't need to be here and was nothing short of disappointing.

They didn't need to be here, but at least one had some effort put into it.

The Avengers - The Justice League.
Besides Spider-Man and Wonder Woman, you have some co stars. The Avengers and The Justice League lend a hand in these important showdowns. While trying not to repeat myself too much from previous parts, the Justice League have zero involvement in this movie. Falcon, War Machine, Scarlet Witch, Vision, Bucky, Black Widow and Ant-Man all being set up in previous films, so I was fine with them showing up for the big fight. Hawkeye however, I will agree didn't really need to be there. His amusing throw away line of "I retire for 5 minutes and look what happens?" didn't justify his return. His spot could have been filled with Wasp or maybe even FUCKING DAREDEVIL would have been great! Mind you they could have brought in Jessica Jones to keep the SJW pinheads quiet... And because I fucking adore Krysten Ritter!

The Justice League however have no commanding presence in BvS. While it was great to get to see the teases, it's something I'm planning on chopping out if I ever get a hold of dvd ripping software. They could have been a post credits scene or a DVD extra. This is why 8 years of continuity is your best friend.

Pretty short comparison, because the Justice League cameos are shorter than David Goyer's trains of thought.

Agent 13 - Lois Lane.
....... Let's be honest. These two are the obligatory love interests. Both shallow, forced and didn't impact the story as a whole. I know Lois Lane's involvement has been panned by critics, but I have to say "at least she DID SOMETHING!" my issue with Sharon Carter falls down to two areas.

1: Moving the plot forward by giving Steve Rogers exposition or information.
2: Be a romance angle.

Lois at least had an arc that went somewhere (stupidly) in the background. So I have to say DOJ wins this aspect. Maybe if Marvel gave Black Widow her own solo movie instead of Iron Man 2, then this would have been a different story.

Final Score.
Civil War: 4
Dawn of Justice: 2.

And that's about it. Now granted, this entire comparison is incredibly subjective and not fact. Yet in the end I feel there is no contest here. Civil War curb stomps Dawn of Justice until there is nothing left by a bloody smear on the ground. I will say I am glad I saw both movies, for both movies had things I liked and somethings I didn't like. But the main point is the conspiracy theorist are stone dead fucking wrong. I guess the critics were dissapointed because they ultimately wanted Dawn of Justice to be good, and who wouldn't want it to be good? It's BATMAN AND SUPERMAN!!! What's not to like? I wanted this movie to be good, because having Marvel with a Monopoly is going to get boring. We mainly want DC and Warner Bros to stop fucking around and get there collective shit together. Maybe Suicide Squad will get it right, but I'm not going to hold my fucking breath in that regard.

Thank you all for sticking with me for 700 issues of WinneBobble. I never say this enough but your support, comments and suggestions do really mean alot to me. Even the critics with their suggestions have been a big help.

Maybe we'll be here for 800? Maybe by that point we'll have Avengers Vs X-Men?

Yeah, like that will happen.

Honestly the biggest fault in Civil War is that Captain America is an idiot with no meaningful argument. He just wants to be able to do acts of violence without over sight, which is exactly what allowed Hydra to take over Shield. A group powerful assholes doing acts of violence across the world with no meaningful oversight to make sure they aren't building weapons of mass destruction or whatever. And no five or so shadowy figures does not count as meaningful over sight.

What the fight should have been is who polices the polices? Of course the answer to that is, as we all know, the cost guard.
