Description

Just so no one is left confused. We’re now back in the established continuity.

Yes, the last batch of pages you read were all a dream. Though I think you could tell things were a tad suspicious when Erin became a Japanese themed version of Captain Marvel.

Now I mentioned a Simpsons inspiration at the start, so let me clarify what I ment.

In part 2 of Who Shot Mr .Burns. Smithers awakens from what he perceives as a dream, telling the audience Part 1 didn’t happen, before diving into a bizarre scenario of Mr.Burns and Smithers being race car drivers.

Erin awakens in Act II from a dream, convinced Act I never happened before diving into a bizarre scenario where she transforms into Shamrock Sentai LuckyRanger.

I’ll get into that in a second, but this page shows the other Simpsons inspiration. In the episode where Bart becomes a Bartender for crime boss Fat Tony, he is charged with the alleged murder of Principle Skinner. Bart has a nightmare where Skinner repeatedly tells him “YOU KILLED ME BART!”

While the dialogue here is different, because this is a homage and not a reference (take fucking notes parody movies) the spirit of Daisy begins tormenting poor old Erin until she breaks down on the floor. Only to be reminded of the truth.

The truth is Davkd is the one who is putting her through this pain, she rationalised this notion she killed Daisy due to her own insecurities and perception she is weak or inept. If only she was stronger she could have stopped him is what she tells herself.

Lets go back to LuckyRanger for a second. Why would Erin act out such a childish fantasy? Not to sound cynical here, but what is one of the reasons people create fantasies or write fiction? As a form of escaping from reality, as the page title (while paying tribute to a Red Dwarf episode of the same name) painfully reminds her.

We escape into our little happy places or comfort zones, depicting ourselves are everything we are not. In this case, Erin believing she is weak, inept and useless, takes on the role of a mighty super hero who is loved by all and is NEVER defeated.

A bit like a bland Gary Stu we all know… Called Superman (and you thought I was gonna say Goku didn’t you?)

So where did “Who is Daisy” come from? If you refer to what I said in the last page #638 Happy Place.

“Witnessing something at a young age could really mess someone up. Then witnessing another traumatic event later in life would open up old wounds. Wounds involving a person you hated for being so mean and spiteful.”

In Erin’s little happy place, why would that person who was so mean and spiteful even exist? I’m sure you’ve had fantasies where a bully at school, an asshole at work or even a family member cease to exist. Yet her horrified reaction and rejecting the imaginary scenario comes from what Daisy did in Act I.

She finally apologised.

Have you ever done something as “revenge“ against someone, only to find that person undid their wrong doing and did something nice for you? Leaving you guilt ridden and the heinous thing you did?

Now granted this is a little out there, but I think it still applies. Erin finally forgave Daisy for her bitchy behaviour and most importantly, what she did to her sister when they were children.

This concludes the Erin’s Guilt section of Act II, but the next page will set the tone of things to come and most importantly answer the big question.

Wait, so Davkd actually has some kind of supernatural power to mess with people's heads? Or is it just her going a little nuts? Because the former sure would explain the fuck out of the red eyes.
