165 - How the mighty have fallen

I've been an Internet user for awhile and there has always been something I never quite understood about fandom.

Of all the subjects you're allowed to make fun of, Nintendo is NOT one of them.

Sega or EA? Sure tear them enough assholes until they could fart the entire score of the H.M.S. Pinafore. Yet Nintendo was that one golden savoir who could do NO wrong and needs to be defended to the 10th degree.

I want to state for the record I DON'T hate Nintendo, but rather view them just as fallible as everybody else. I will gladly praise them for a Luigi's Mansion or Metroid Prime but won't turn a blind eye to there failings ranging from Virtual Boy to Metroid Other M.

Yet whenever I speak up to prove they screw up. I'm told to shut up or I'm ladled as a hater for not appreciating Nintendo and being "jealous" of all things. Yeah because I clearly don't appreciate my Game Cube, GBA, DS, 3DS and the shit ton of Nintendo games I own. Stick that in your pipe and smoke it!!!

Before we go any further, I wanna get this out there. Because I know some people will accuse me of bias mainly due to Capcom. So let's make this quick.

No - I won't condemn Resident Evil 6 because I haven't and have no intent of playing it. I won't rage about something I don't care about.
No - I won't get angry over Megaman Legends 3 being cancelled for I didn't want the game in the first place.
No - I won't get angry over Megaman Universe being cancelled, for the early reports weren't that positive over it.
No - I won't get angry over Megaman/Rockman Online being cancelled because we'd never see it in the west... it was a KOREON exclusive after all!!
No - I didn't get angry over Street Fighter X Tekken's on disc DLC because I got bored of the game and moved on before people got angry over it.... plus I didn't want the DLC in the first place.
No - I won't condemn DmC: Devil May Cry cus the gameplay was solid, yeah the story was flawed but don't we play games for Gameplay?

The Maverick Hunter cancellation YES I am pissed that was cancelled, but I think I've made my point.

Now, just prove there are no smoke and mirrors, I'll provide links for you to see for yourself.

First, came the poor sales of the 3DS and gimmicky Wii U

Now this is very easy to forgive because NO games console has a stellar or incredible launch line up on Day 1. I mean Mario didn't arrive on the Game Cube until months after it launched.

Plus as a happy owner of a 3DS I can say it's gotten better. Castlevania: Mirror of Fate was a blast to play and I'll be looking forward to Luigi's Mansion 2 soon, in the meantime I've been taking full advantage of the Virtual Console to revisit my childhood memories.

But the issue of the Wii U is a glairing one for the poor thing really has NOTHING going for it (Mind you E3 will change that)



Now, this all depends on your own preference, but Nintendo seems to not like the idea of same sex marriage

I know my friends were taking great issue to this. I guess on the surface you'd probably think "who cares?" but I guess in this age of equality and tolerance you could view this as a very taboo move by Nintendo.



But now it seems they have a problem with Lets Plays... or do they?

I do find it odd that let's plays have been going on for years and only NOW they take issue with it? It can be viewed as blatant cash grab and it could potentially hurt LPers (which is never fun) so this can go either way. I know people like ChuggaConroy or the Game Grumps could be in trouble but of all people.... It's Nintendo pulling this shit? Not the likes of EA or Capcom? I guess they really need the money bad, considering how poorly the Wii U is doing.

I'll still buy 3DS games and the like, but I can imagine this announcement will annoy many of you to no end.


So yeah, everyone is fallible kiddies, even Nintendo!
